About Us Hi and WELCOME to Cook Like a Greek! We’re Lizz and Stephanie, a mother-daughter team living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Living under the same roof again, after many years apart, we noticed how much we enjoyed being in the kitchen and cooking together. It has brought us even closer, and we saw it as an opportunity to create and share traditional Greek family recipes with our family and friends. From Lizz: I’m a first-generation Greek-American and my love and appreciation of fresh and flavorful foods began at a young age. I feel so fortunate to have been raised in a home where the Mediterranean diet was a staple. There was always an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables, legumes, olive oil and lean meats like fresh fish, chicken and lamb. My mother always enhanced her dishes with both fresh and dry herbs such as Oregano, Mint, Rosemary, Dill and Basil; common spices used in Greek cooking. I have fond memories of summers spent in Crete, Greece, soaking up the warm sun and breathing in the fresh Aegean Sea air. I remember eating the best, most flavorful dishes with the freshest ingredients. From Steph: Our love for cooking Traditional Greek recipes was further fueled by my decision last year to leave my job and spend a few months in Greece exploring my family roots. During this trip, I was able to spend time with family members in different parts of the country, and felt more connected than ever to my Greek roots. I was able to experience many different Greek family dishes that I wanted to recreate and share with family and friends back home. There was a passion ignited in us for everyone to experience the feeling of love around a dinner table. The joy in celebrating good food and creating memories with people that make you feel at home. Starting this blog was the first step in writing down these recipes for future generations…and we can’t wait to share them with all of you! Our goal is to share these family recipes with you so you can experience the flavors of Greece… To inspire you to share a good meal with the people you love… And to watch how much happiness it will bring you in creating your own family memories. This is what Cook Like A Greek is all about! A combination of good food and sharing it with family and friends. Eating should always be an event! Felakia, Lizz & Stephanie
