Our Greek Style Layered Dip comes together really quickly and is a definite crowd pleaser. You will love it! via @CookLikeaGreek

Our Greek Style Layered Dip comes together really quickly and is a definite crowd pleaser. You can use store bought hummus which comes in a variety of flavors (we used a lemon flavored hummus) and store bought tzatziki sauce. We prefer our homemade Tzatziki Sauce which is easy to make so we encourage you to try it if you have the time.

What’s special about this Greek Style Layered Dip is that the top layer is essentially a Greek Village Salad. The salad ingredients are finely chopped and create more of a Greek Salad salsa texture which is spooned over the hummus and tzatziki. You can prepare the Greek Salad Salsa ahead of time and keep it refrigerated until you are ready to put the appetizer together and serve it. Serve this dip with pita chips or our Homemade Pita Bread.

HOW TO MAKE GREEK STYLE LAYERED DIP

  1. Prepare and measure all ingredients.
  2. Make a Greek salad salsa by adding, chopped cucumber, tomato, green bell pepper, Kalamata olives, red onion, dried Greek oregano, salt and pepper to taste, extra virgin olive oil and fresh lemon juice to a bowl and combine well. Set aside.
  3. In a 9×9 size deep dish, spread hummus evenly as your first layer of the dip.
  4. Next, spread tzatziki sauce evenly on top of hummus, leaving about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of the hummus visible.
  5. Use a slotted spoon to drain any excess dressing from the Greek salad salsa and begin to spoon the Greek salad salsa evenly over the tzatziki. Be sure to drain it well through the slotted spoon so that the final dip doesn’t get watery.
  6. Crumble feta evenly over the Greek salad salsa. Sprinkle some additional freshly ground black pepper over the top. Enjoy with pita chips.

Can I make the Greek Salad Salsa ahead of time?

Yes, you can cut up all the ingredients for the Greek Salad Salsa ahead of time and refrigerate. Add the olive oil, lemon juice and seasonings just before you are ready to spoon over the hummus and tzatziki. It will otherwise get soggy and will not be as intense and flavorful. It’s tastes much better when there is some crunch in the vegetables.
