Greek Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 yellow onion finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic medium and finely minced
  • 4 cups diced tomatoes good quality canned
  • 3/4 cup red wine
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tbsp fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp Mykonos Blend - Tomato Sauce Seasoning

Instructions

  • Melt butter and saute the onion and garlic for 2-3 minutes until translucent.
  • Add diced tomatoes, red wine, chopped parsley, Mykonos Blend - Tomato Sauce Seasoning and water to sauteed onion and garlic mixture. Stir to incorporate all ingredients.
  • Bring to a boil over medium heat, reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Give the sauce a quick stir every 10 minutes.
  • Sauce can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated for up to 5 days.
